Once you've selected which video to watch, it will appear in an embedded media player in the centre of the screen. All of our video and audio clips are now encoded in the embedded player which plays in the Adobe Flash player as a default.
Click on the Play icon in the middle of the player to start the embedded video. Once the video has started you can then start, pause or restart the video by using the control buttons immediately below the video screen. You can navigate to any part of the video by either dragging the scrubber or clicking the progress bar at a specific point. There maybe a slight delay as the video catches up to the point you've clicked on. You can also change the volume by using the slider control and you can also change the size of the video by using the Full Screen link underneath the playback window - if you are using version 9 of Flash or above. We have also recently added extra buttons in the player to enable better support for accessibility.
If available, we will provide a transcript of each recording. If there is no transcript and you require one, you can do so by emailing UKRI Press Office, your request will be acknowledged within 15 working days.
If you cannot view any of our multimedia content, you may need to download the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player. The latest version can be installed via the Adobe website. There are also links for this on each of the multimedia pages located at the bottom of the page.
Embedded video and audio should also work with Safari on Mac and Linux browsers.
You might also want to make sure you have the most recent Flash software for your particular browser. For example, if your Flash software for Internet Explorer is up-to-date, this doesn't necessarily mean your Flash software for Firefox or Safari is the most recent.
Make sure you update the version of Flash for whichever browsers you like to use at Adobe Flash browser alternatives.
If you keep getting told to install Flash or your video player is not playing, you may need to uninstall Adobe Flash properly before reinstalling it again. You can do this using the following steps:
- Go to the How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player page
- Run the uninstaller for your system
- Go to the Adobe Flash Player page and install the Flash player again (click on the "Different operating system or browser?" link if applicable)
