SAMBa (Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath) is an innovative cohort-driven centre for doctoral training at the interface of Statistics and Applied Mathematics, especially where computer intensive modelling meets big data. Students will be trained to be interdisciplinary mathematicians who see no barriers between mathematical modelling, stochastics and modern statistics, and have the excellent problem solving abilities and computational skill sets for careers in academia and industry. Engagement with industry is central to the training programme, in particular via regular week long "Integrative Think Tanks" in which students focus on collaborative problem distillation with industrial partners.
