Equipment.data is the national equipment sharing portal where you can search for equipment located at a wide variety of universities across the UK.
In April 2013 EPSRC funded a team at the University of Southampton to develop equipment.data. The portal is capable of auto-discovering equipment lists at contributing universities. Thus there is no requirement to laboriously input equipment information into it - contribution is through the output of existing university databases/systems.
The number of contributors to equipment.data is continuing to grow and the future development of this strategically important resource is being jointly supported by EPSRC and JISC.
Following Professor Sir Ian Diamond's "Efficiency, effectiveness and value for money report 2015", EPSRC strongly supports the recommendation that
All new equipment purchased using public funding sources and over the OJEU threshold should be registered on the equipment.data.ac.uk national database to enable greater sharing.
If your university is not currently contributing to equipment.data we encourage you to talk to the team. Contact details can be found on equipment.data.
