A former chair of the EPSRC Mathematical Sciences Strategic Advisory Team has been made a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Professor Ken Brown is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Glasgow and has received the honour in recognition of his services to mathematical sciences.

As well as chairing the SAT, Professor Brown also served on a number of EPSRC workshops in recent years.

He said: I am very honoured and I regard this as recognition for the mathematical sciences community and the University of Glasgow rather than for myself.

Professor Brown joins Professor Mark Smith as a CBE. Professor Smith is Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University and sits on the EPSRC Council. He receives the award for services to research and higher education.
