Champions to raise equality, diversity and inclusion awareness across physical sciences

Established research leaders will be supported to inspire, enable and facilitate greater equality, diversity and inclusion across the physical sciences research community through a new initiative launched today Monday 8 July 2019.
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), part of UK Research and Innovation, is working in partnership with the Institute of Physics (IoP) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) to support Established Career Fellows to act as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champions.
The fellowships are designed to allow researchers to manage ambitious research programmes while dedicating time to raising awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion issues within the community and supporting the implementation of new ideas and initiatives.
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the EPSRC criteria for Established Career Fellows and outline how they will use their leadership role to build greater diversity in the research community.
Fellows may chose to focus on a single or multiple areas of equality, diversity and inclusion and are expected to have an appropriate balance of activities that raise awareness and those that enable positive change. This could include collaboration with other groups or bodies working in this area, including the RSC and IOP.
