The Board of the Alan Turing Institute is seeking to appoint a Chair.

The Alan Turing Institute places the UK at the forefront of world-wide research in data science and its exploitation. It generates new algorithms and techniques, and works with academia, industry, the public and third sectors to realise their value.

In this part-time role the Chair will work closely with the Director of the Alan Turing Institute and chair the Alan Turing Institute Board of Directors. The Chair of the Board acts as custodian for the Alan Turing Institute's mission and objectives and is responsible for overall direction and management of the Board.

The Board is looking for a high-calibre candidate with business/industry experience, including in the commercial world relevant to the Alan Turing Institute's work, who can effectively chair the board of a critical, high-profile research organisation in an area of importance to the UK.

Salary will be £16,000- £20,000 per annum and London based. Travel and subsistence, expenses to meetings will be reimbursed. The total time commitment would be approximately 20 days per year.

Interviews will be held on Monday 30 March 2015. All reasonable expenses incurred in connection with attending an interview panel will be paid. The vacancy has a potential start date of immediate effect.
