Responsible research and innovation (RRI) aims to ensure that research is acceptable, desirable and sustainable to society. Therefore, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) has commissioned a new organisation, called ORBIT - the Observatory for Responsible Research and Innovation, to support UK researchers in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to undertake research in a responsible way.

ORBIT is led by De Montford and Oxford Universities and funded, in the launch phase by the EPSRC. Further information can be found at the ORBIT website. It aims to become an organisation supporting RRI to all interested parties in the future, including industrial partners.
