EPSRC-NSFC Workshop in Sustainable Power Supply
EPSRC, as part of the Energy Programme, is inviting expressions of interest to attend a two-day Workshop on 3-4 June 2019, to engage in discussions and initiate new collaborative working partnerships with selected Chinese participants.
The area of interest is sustainable power supply: intelligent and resilient control for smart urban energy systems, and grid scale storage. The workshop will be held in Heathrow, London, with up to 26 places available. A UK-China call for research proposals, to be funded by EPSRC in partnership with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) will follow the Workshop, although attendance at the Workshop is not a requirement to apply to the call.
In participating in this event, you will be able to discuss the research challenges which would benefit from collaboration between UK and Chinese experts in this field. The discussion will focus on the research required to achieve a sustainable power supply, and is likely to include the following areas:
- Intelligent and resilient control for smart urban energy systems
- Interconnection System data analytics
- Intelligent control
- Energy management and optimisation
- Control protection and self-healing for hybrid power grid
- Green active distribution
- Grid Scale Storage
- Large scale and distributed storage
- Energy storage materials
You will also have the opportunity to initiate new working relationships with UK and Chinese collaborators. Attendees of the workshop are expected to act as representatives of their scientific discipline, and to act in the interests of the scientific community as a whole, rather than representing personal or organisational interests. The composition of the group will be decided by the Energy Programme, who will reserve the right to appoint members to the workshop group who have not applied to achieve the balance of representation required.
The closing date for Expressions of Interest to attend the workshop is 16:00 on 30 April 2019.
The workshop will begin on the morning of 3 June 2019 and continue until the evening of 4 June 2019. Accommodation will be provided for the night of 3 June 2019 and delegates will be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses.
Please note: the dates for the opening and closing of the expressions of interest are estimates, and these (as well as the location) will be updated when the workshop call is opened.
