Digital Manufacturing Potential
The Manufacturing the Future and Digital Economy themes would like to highlight the opportunity for researchers to explore the potential of Digital Manufacturing. The aim of this highlight notice is to provide funding through the Manufacturing the future investigator-led route to explore the research challenges facing the Digital Manufacturing community.
The purpose of the call is to develop novel digital tools that aim to integrate advanced ICT techniques into manufacturing environments, in order to foster a long-term transformation within UK manufacturing.
EPSRC expect to see larger scale research programmes submitted via this highlight, compared to those usually submitted under our standard mode route. Proposals should be between £1.5 million - £2 million (Research Council contribution) and 3- 4 years in duration. Projects less than £1.5 million and of shorter duration should seek funding via a standard grant application (PDF).
The deadline for full proposals is 10 October 2017 and funding decisions are expected to be made in March 2018 with projects expected to start in July 2018.
