Nick Weston received a BSc in Engineering in 1990, and PhD in Engineering Design in 1994 from the University of Durham. After a short spell in university research he joined Renishaw plc in 1997, becoming Group Engineering Manager in 2001 and General Manager, Renishaw Edinburgh in 2003.
This team undertakes long term development of innovative product and process technology in industrial metrology, optics and precision motion systems. Nick is named as inventor or co-inventor on twelve granted patents and numerous others which are published and pending examination. He is a member of the IEEE, chartered mechanical engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and became an Honorary Professor at Heriot-Watt University in 2012.
