Helen Sharp is Professor of Software Engineering at the Open University, UK, and Associate Dean (AD) for Research, Scholarships and Enterprise in the Open University’s largest and most diverse faculty: Mathematics, Computing and Technology (MCT). Prior to joining academia, Prof Sharp spent several years as a software developer and has continued to work closely with industry focusing on practice-based software engineering research that emphasises both practitioner and user perspectives.
She is very active in both the software engineering and interaction design (HCI) communities and is joint author of one of the leading textbooks on Interaction Design (id-book.com) now in its fourth edition. Prof Sharp has had a long association with practitioner-related conferences and a strong record of inter-disciplinary research particularly with Design, Education and Science.
