Vacancies

EPSRC are looking to recruit new members for our Strategic Advisory Bodies to start in January 2019.  Closing date is 01 August 2018 at 16.00 Hours.  Please ensure that your application has been submitted before this time.

Appointments for SAT members will be for three years, with the possibility of extension for up to a further three years. Members are paid a fee for each activity they are involved with and are reimbursed for travel and subsistence expenses when attending meetings. Members are required to adhere to the Seven Principles of Public Life (Annex 1)

As well as our academic vacancies, EPSRC will look to appoint non-academic members from a business, industry, the third sector or government organisation whose role is focused on the managing the use of academic research to deliver innovation, economic growth or societal change onto each of its Strategic Advisory Bodies.

At this point we are looking to fill vacancies in specific themes but applicants should note that the current advisory team structure may evolve over the three year appointment in order to best support the delivery of our strategies.

Digital Economy

Due to a large intake in 2017, there are no vacancies open in the Digital Economy Programme Advisory Board in 2018. Vacancies are expected to open in 2019 for start in January 2020.

Capital Equipment

Current membership of the Capital Equipment Strategic Advisory Team can be found here. This advisory team is currently recruiting for two vacancies for Industry or non-academic Users of large capital equipment.

E-Infrastructure

Current membership of the E-Infrastructure Strategic Advisory Team can be found here.

This advisory team is currently recruiting for four vacancies.

  • Industrial Software Specialist (Industry/ User Only, number of vacancies: 1)
  • International HPC Representative (Academic or Industry/User, number of vacancies: 1))
  • HPC user for Chemistry/Materials (Academic or Industry / User, number of vacancies: 1))
  • Regional University Representative, Tier-2 HPC Centres (Academic Only, number of vacancies: 1)

Energy

Current membership of the Energy Strategic Advisory Committee is available here. The Energy SAC is currently recruiting for five vacancies and would particularly encourage applications from people from Industry and policy making. There are two vacancies that are open to all applications from areas in Energy and three vacancies that are open to both industry/ users and academics in the fields of Economics of Energy, Energy Storage, Hydrogen for Energy Applications, Modelling for Energy or Transport. Please ensure that it is stated which area/s your expertise are in in the application.

There are no vacancies open for the Fusion Advisory Board in 2018.

Healthcare Technologies

Current membership of the Healthcare Technologies Strategic Advisory Team is available here. The SAT is currently recruiting for three vacancies within specific areas. These vacancies are open clinical, industrial, academic and early career applicants

  • Biomaterials/Regenerative Medicine within EPSRC remit (Academic or Industry/ User)
  • Digital Health/Telehealth (Academic or Industry/ User)
  • Medical Devices/Assistive Technologies (Academic or Industry/ User)

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

Current membership of the ICT Strategic Advisory Team is available here, and is currently recruiting for four vacancies. Two vacancies are for academics and industry/ users who are in the areas of ICT hardware. Both the Mathematical Sciences and ICT Theme are seeking researchers with core data science expertise to join their Strategic Advisory Teams. This includes researchers in the area of machine learning, statistics, applied probability, data management and database theory. Note that these vacancies could be filled either as a joint appointment across both SATs or by two separate applicants. The theme welcomes applications across the breadth of the Manufacturing research and innovation landscape from Academics and industry/ users, however, applications from people in the following areas will be prioritised: Sustainability, Process Manufacturing or Design Engineering.
