Vacancies

EPSRC are looking to recruit new members for our Strategic Advisory Bodies to start in January 2020.

Appointments for SAT members will be for three years, with the possibility of extension for up to a further three years. Members are paid a fee for each activity they are involved with and are reimbursed for travel and subsistence expenses when attending meetings. Members are required to adhere to the Seven Principles of Public Life (Annex 1)

As well as our academic vacancies, EPSRC will look to appoint non-academic members from a business, industry, the third sector or government organisation whose role is focused on the managing the use of academic research to deliver innovation, economic growth or societal change onto each of its Strategic Advisory Bodies.

At this point we are looking to fill vacancies in specific themes but applicants should note that the current advisory team structure may evolve over the three year appointment in order to best support the delivery of our strategies.

Capital Equipment

Current membership of the Capital Equipment Strategic Advisory Team can be found here. This advisory team is currently recruiting for four vacancies for Industry or non-academic Users of large capital equipment.

  • Early Career Researcher / User of Capital Equipment (number of vacancies: 1)
  • Facility Manager / Researcher (number of vacancies: 1)
  • Engineering Researcher / User of Capital Equipment (number of vacancies: 1)
  • Senior University Manager, for example PVC or Dean of School, with experience of managing equipment (number of vacancies: 1)

Digital Economy

Current membership of the Digital Economy Programme Advisory Board is available here. The DE PAB is currently recruiting for four vacancies.

    • Vacancy includes the research areas of Optoelectronic devices and circuits, optical devices and subsystems and optical communications.     • This vacancy requires the capability to take a broad overview of the next generation communications landscape. With the ever increasing pervasiveness of communication systems and the growing reliance of wider societal technologies on distributed systems, it is strategically crucial to comprehend the prevalent direction in which this area should further develop.
  • Fundamentals of Computing (Academic or Industry/User, number of vacancies: 1)
    • Vacancy includes the EPSRC Research areas of Theoretical Computer Science, Architectures and Operating Systems, Programming Languages and Compilers and Verification and Correctness.

Manufacturing the Future

Current membership of the Manufacturing the Future Strategic Advisory Team is available here and is currently recruiting for five vacancies. The theme welcomes applications across the breadth of the Manufacturing research and innovation landscape, however, applications from people in the areas described below for each vacancy will be prioritised. Please indicate which area/s your expertise are in, in the application.
